Post this to help anyone who’s considering buying an Acer Aspire 5920G, and wanted to see how it performed on newer games. The specs were Intel Core2Duo T7300 (2.0GHZ, 800MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 Cache) 8600M GT 256mb (OC’d) 2GB RAM. The game was running at 60FPS, but FRAPS slaughtered my FPS and caused freeze ups. So the game runs smooth and not choppy like you see in the video.

A video showing how to upgrade the memory on the Acer Aspire One. I’ve not tried this personally but it looks a major pain in the backside. The Asus EEE PC has a small cover at the bottom that reveals the SODIMM slot. As easy to upgrade as a desktop.
The upgrade is only for those competent and confident enough to risk their £200 machine. If you take your time though it is a great cheap upgrade. The hardest part is separating the top of the PC from the bottom and requires a little bravery as the clips do grip very well and reconnecting the lcd ribbon cable is a little fiddly also and as with all memory chips you need a vice like grip to get the chip to click in place.
The battery life of your 9 cell ACER Aspire One UMPC is limited like any other device containing rechargeable batteries. The battery capacity of the ACER Aspire One UMPC drops every time you use it. This replacement battery will extend the life of your ACER Aspire One UMPC. When the available battery time is shortened considerably a probable cause is that the battery of the ACER Aspire One UMPC has reached the end of its life. The battery life of the ACER Aspire One will vary according to how it is stored charged and through general operating conditions.
This battery has three times the capacity of the standard battery, and not unsurprisingly requires three times the space. Basically, I now have a battery with a netbook attached to it. Just imagine that a second battery pack is added behind the standard pack, and a third battery pack underneath. If that is what you want, get it!
If you have just got a “Three” USB modem such as the Huawei E220 you should be able to connect without too much difficulty (although the process still needs smoothing out a bit). However some people have noticed issues with the type of IP address they receive from the network. Apparently under XP they are assigned a “real IP” of 92.40.61.* but under Linux get a “private” IP (10.119.64.*). You can get more control following the Mac instructions, and using an ASN address “three.co.uk” rather than “3internet.”
The most advanced and affordable Mac notebook ever gives you a blazingly fast mobile architecture in a beautiful design that costs less than slower, clunkier models. It’s like getting a sports car for the price of a scooter. Talk about performance, MacBook’s powered with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with speeds revving up to 2.0GHz.

In bright white or sleek black, MacBook supports up to 2GB of memory and plenty of storage. Standard models offer up to 120GB of hard drive space, but if you haul a lot of data around, you can order your MacBook with up to 200GB of storage. That’s not all. MacBook keeps you untethered courtesy of built-in Bluetooth and AirPort Extreme (802.11g). A 6x double-layer-burning SuperDrive — standard equipment on the 2.0GHz models — not only lets you burn DVDs faster but lets you burn capacious double-layer media. And those 2.0GHz models pack 4MB of shared L2 cache, which helps deliver a 6x leap in performance over the iBook or PowerBook before them.
Youtube Review of the Apple MacBook White 2.1GHZ
It took less than a day to get my head around the change of operating system, everything here looks so much better and simpler than on Windows, applications are lightening fast, taking almost no time to open, the equivalent of internet explorer (safari) loads web pages with almost no delay (unlike my Windows XP computer which really struggles along!). Compatability isn’t really an issue, Word, Excel and Powerpoint can all be purchased and although not quite up to the standard of the same applications on Windows they do the job and the new releases coming in late 2007 will be almost identical to the new Windows programs…
